Song Shall Be Our Measure

I was commissioned by SEDA Land to compose and perform a new piece of music responding to the themes of their event at Go Falkland 2024, which centred around multiple land uses for a prosperous Scotland. The resulting work was titled ‘Song Shall Be Our Measure’, for two violins, cello and birdsong, and reflected on indicator species and their presence within thriving communities. I was joined by violinists Aaron McGregor and Kirsty Orton for the first performance, with Amy Hawes looking after the recorded birdsong.

Read about this event and find a link to watch the performance here: SEDA Land (the music is at 01.01.45 on the recording).
